I was hoping they would be useful, but they both turned out to be pretty pointless since it just led to massive spamming, which wasn't really good. Also, there really isn't a way to use them at all at this point, so they are not useful because of that.

The few forums Ive been on used something like that to promote free gifts. Once someone got a certain amount of money they could get a free gift , like a mug advertising the website.
