I'm just wondering if anyone else here has ever done any cosplay. ^_^ That's costume play/dressing up as your favourite character, if anyone doesn't know. I've done a lot of them in the past (Demeter from Cats, and Kozue from Revolutionary Girl: Utena are my best), and I have a lot more planned. I'm going to be helping my sister make a HUnewearl costume for Anime Central next year (she wants to carry around the Marica plushie I made her, too). ^_^ The people from my Utena group and I are doing Soul Calibur II as a group next year, so before too long I should get some progress pictures for those (we start about a year in advance). We're also doing Utena again, with the addition of a couple more characters (we'll have nearly everyone in the main cast). My sister and I are also doing our own thing, coslaying Eirika and Ephraim from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. (My armor is being made right now. ^_^) I bet I'll look very odd with seafoam green hair - and for some reason I cosplay a lot of characters with short hair. I'm also going to try and do Fuchouin Kazuki (the guy in my avatar), if I can figure out how to make his shirt (it's very odd looking, but cool. ^_^). Here's a couple pictures from ACEN 2005: This is almost all of our Utena group. ^_^ I'm in the blue dress on the far right, and my twin sister is to my left. Nobody even knew who I was, because Kozue is a very minor character (and is only in something like six episodes in a series with over 40...) - they all thought I was a recolor of Anthy (in red) or something. This is one of the only good shots of me - ever. >.< I'm not very photogenic. I'm not very pretty, either. Ah well. And this is my sister and I doing Kozue and Miki's DVD cover pose. ^_^ Only I'm in the RoseBride dress, not the Ohtori school uniform, but meh. I don't have any good pictures of my other costumes (I really ought to do another photoshoot as Demeter, and fix my Megumi Takani costume, and actually get working on my Christine Daae and Fuchouin Kazuki costumes)... But soon, I should be able to get pictures as Taki. ^_^ Our SCII group is going to be pretty scary; we're going to have (at least): Taki, Ivy, Xianghua, Seung Mina, Talim, Raphael, Kilik and YunSung. Maybe Maxi too, if my friend still wants to go as him.

Nice pictures. I have seen lots of pictures of cosplay, but I am not talented enough with sewing, nor wealthy enough to purchase a decent costume. There is also the small problem of not knowing anybody in the area who would be into anything that I am a fan of. I like seeing pictures of other people involved in it though. It looks fun.

woa!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I love the mouse person. It makes me randy just like the last time I went to chucky cheese. The mouse at chucky cheese had a weak neck and tilted his head just like that.
mmmm memories ;D
Is the mouse your friend?

Hey My character is HUnewearl and my mag is marcia. But i would never dress up as her W or a woman in that case. Are you guys meant to be sailor moon?
Reply to the post below: Koala's are really boring they just sit in tree's all day.

Darin, I think that's a Koala, not a mouse.

It actually is a mouse. ^_^ Its name is ChuChu, and it's Anthy's friend. The woman in the suit is actually the mother of the girl who's Anthy (the girl in the red dress).
ETA: I'm confused by the Sailor Moon thing... >.< I haven't done a SM cosplay in roughly five years, though I'd like to do Sailor Uranus and/or Sailor Pluto eventually. ^_^ Revolutionary Girl: Utena is a very different series, though it does, coincidentally, have the same director as Sailor Moon.
And why on earth do I keep wanting to cosplay characters where I have to fit all my damn hair under a short wig?!

Oops sorry about that. I used to love sailor moon when i was younger (7). But you dont look ugly at all trust me and your costumes look great. I wish there was some cosplay in Australia, there is once a year but my friends would never dress as anime characters or are to cheap and lazy Its great meeting new people at place's like that though. Have you ever been to a final fantay/pso cosplay? Because ive seen alot of pictures for them and some people had some cool costumes. I found a picture of a japanese girl as rikku and she looked EXACYLY like her omg it would freaky!

Ive always had a desire to cosplay as Aeris form Final Fantasy 7 even though shes a girl and im a guy. Shes the best FF character ever. Dont think anyone in a 500mile radius around here would even think of doing anything remotley like that tho. Guess Ill need to hold on to my desire to be Aeris just a little longer. *snivle*

You'd be surprised... If you go to cosplay.com, I'm sure there's probably people near you that not only cosplay but are a part of that site. ^_^
And cross-playing isn't a bad thing either. ^_^ Half of my costumes for ACEN2006 are guys, and I'm a girl. *shrug*
There really isn't much for "pro-cosplay" in the US, at least not that I've seen. It's pretty common in Japan, though - there were even some pros in PSO costume at the Japanese release of BB. I have, however, seen quite a few people that were absolutely perfect for the costumes they chose. ^_^

There was one in Malaysia over the weekend. To be honest, I'd never even heard of them until a few weeks ago.
Ha! Mouse... Chuchu rocket. Good luck making the HUnewearl costume.

The HUnewearl costume (hopefully complete with Heart of Poumn) will be a piece of cake. ^_^ I'd be more worried if we were doing a FOmarl or something like that with a lot of detail work. (Her HUnewearl wears the same outfit as Sue, in case anyone is wondering.) I'm guessing the costume will take us a week at most once we get down to it. ^_^ However, we're going to try to finish the SCII and FE: SS costumes first.

Chalchi--you must be in Chicago, eh? I'm visiting Chicago this Thursday. I guess this is a bit OT, but how do you like the Art Institute there?
Okay--OT, I'm nuts for women in colored wigs. Err--just realized that is YOU in the colored wig! Not trying to hit on you; just a statement of fact. Great pictures though.

It's actually my sister doing a HUnewearl (my counterpart costume for that is going to be Fuchouin Kazuki from GetBackers. I'll probably eventually do a FOmarl to do with her - I'm too tall to do a FOnewearl >.<).
And yes, I am near Chicago. ^_^ Are you talking about the Chicago Art Institute or the Illinois Institute of Art? They're two separate places.
ETA: In a couple weeks, I should have pictures in my seafoam wig as well as the navy blue one. ^_^ It's really annoying to fit my hair under the wigs - my actual hair's almost down to my hips... >.<

I was referring to the Illinois Institute of Art which I assumed was in or near Chicago.
W--a bunch of my friends intoduced me to the con scene in 2004 at ACEN. They were dressed as the GetBackers. I picked up a couple issues of the original Manga while I was in Japan--it was actually pretty racey (sp?). My friend Molly (one of the peeps that took me to the con) was too embarrassed to buy it!

RE: your hair
How do you actually fit it into the wig? Just liberal pinning on imagine? I'm asking because I've done some very minor costumine and some absolutely pathetic wigging, but I'm always interested in learning to do more.

>.< I'm trying to eventually get a group together to do more of the GetBackers, but... so far no luck (other than two friends demanding I make them shirts like Ban's). I keep expanding our SCII group, though, because now I've found someone who wants to do Nightmare with us. >.<
My first convention was ACEN05. ^_^ My friends' first con was ACEN 04, too. They went as the girls from FuriCuri.
As far as my hair goes, I have to have my sister french braid it tightly, and then we wrap it around my head. It doesn't really need pins, as long as someone helps me get a wig cap on ASAP.

Oh great I've just been reminded of my lost HoP weapon thanks to an FSOD....
Hey just wondering where, and how do you buy and make your anime costumes and how long does it take (examples for ones you have already made) chichulihuticle?
