No, not the Phantasy Star fandom, but my other major fandom, Cats the musical. (Odd choice in fandoms, no?)
Once upon a time, I used to write a TON of fanfiction for Cats, and so did my sister. My sister still does, come to that. And she's one of the best authors I've ever seen - too bad she just can't get into the PSO world enough to write about it, though she plays constantly and gives me ideas. Anyway, so now my sister runs the only expansive Cats fanfiction archive on the web. And people from fanfiction.net send their fanfiction to her to have it posted there.
Her site also has a forum. A very fun, incredibly active (for the Cats fandom) forum, which in a bit over two years has accumulated 15000 posts. We're a close-knit community - I still remember all the original members and chat with them from time to time. So this bitch by the name of Roman de la Croix (who, by the way, writes Cats pornography) comes to the forum, spams a comic she's making (she's not even the writer of it, but she certainly wouldn't admit anyone else had a hand in it when she spammed it), and doesn't post again. Until my sister locks her spam and tells her that if she can't make a proper introduction she has no business there.
So she proceeded to say every asshat comment that came to mind, and flame-baited every single topic she took part in. And when I asked her not to do it, and not to whore herself for attention, she outright flamed me. So I banned her ass. ^_^
Problem is, she doesn't realize my twin sister and I are two separate people. And she doesn't realize that starting a "bad fanfiction revolution" isn't witty and isn't going to prove a point. But that's exactly what the little asshat did.
Then my sister called her on it as a personal attack, which she readily admitted was true. So I gathered all the appropriate links, and sent this e-mail to fanfiction.net:
There are several people in the Musicals/Plays section of fanfiction.net who are abusing the priviledge of posting fanfiction there. The sole reason they are posting a series of stories is because my sister reviewed their stories, and told them the stories made little sense because the characters represented were nothing like their original selves. (The fandom in question here is the musical Cats.) I believe she may also have critiqued their grammar, and plots, but I'm not sure. All I know is that one of them once joined my sister's forum with the sole intent of flame-baiting (and she succeeded for about a month until I banned her - she managed to drive my sister and a good number of others away from the forum as well).
The jerks in question are:
Krissy4
Roman de la Croix (Roman is the one who flame-baited on my sister's forum, including flaming me, when I had nothing to do with it at all, except to ask her to kindly refrain from posting pornography on an all-ages forum.)
Super Poet Girl
Chimalmaht
Jemima Luvah
The stories in question are:
Starshine Flickerbunny's Story
Yssirk's Story
Vikilurina's Story
Xuxalanamyosachik's Story
Kisa's Story
They have started a "society" called Society Against a Dictatorship in Cats, and that dictatorship is my sister - simply because she asks that people develop their original characters, use grammar and intelligible English, and think through their plots.
Now they are going around writing Mary Sues with no plots, bad grammar and spelling deliberately just to cause trouble for my sister, insult her, and be total idiots in public. I don't think they should be allowed to do this, because it's just flame-baiting, like Roman already did on my sister's forum. It isn't right that they are allowed to go around starting societies against other users simply because they ask that people spell-check and develop characters and plots.
I think, for any fanfiction site, grammar and spell-check should be a must, and users should be asked to try to develop their characters. It isn't fair to other people to have to witness the suffering caused by people like this.
I also posted it in my deviantart journal, on my sister's forum, my website's forum, and as a review to all of the fanfiction involved. Even better, now, is that my sister's forwarding me the e-mail wherein Roman told her that it was an attack directed at her, so I can forward it to fanfiction.net. ^_^ (Note that I removed the links here, because I doubt any of you will actually want to go read the stories, and I don't want you to give the attention-whore any more of what she wants.)
And now we're involved in a flame-war in which I am definitely winning (she's grasping at straws now, flustered and definitely trying to deny that she was attacking my sister... When I have a bunch of evidence at hand).
This is so much fun. She's making such an asshat out of herself that it's so easy to snark at her and tear open the gaping holes in her reasoning. ^_^
